Pacific Book Review Author Interview: Shifu Hwang
Herbal Surgeon: Immortal Cancer Care
Interviewed by: Barbara Miller, Pacific Book Review

Today we have the privilege of speaking with Shifu Hwang, a famous healer using traditional Chinese medicine techniques, herbal remedies and acupuncture. Mr. Hwang, thank you for taking your time to join us.
SH: Thank you. I appreciate this great opportunity to introduce myself and my book.
PBR: You have been in the United States for about 30 years. What do you think of the medical profession here?
SH: TCM views disease by looking at the health balance. I see the Western medical science has a narrow focus on view of diseases, looking at bacteria and virus control. But human sickness is not caused by pathogens only. Fatigue, stress, diet all play a part in sickness. Western science could reach a bottle neck even as a high speed driver's view becomes narrower and narrower with fast speed. To balance the view, I recommend borrowing Eastern medical science broader view to help.
PBR: You have studies much from many – tell us please about your learning process for TCM.
SH: I learned Chinese herbal botonica from my family, injury recovery knowledge from my martial arts instructors, and internal herbal medical science from University of Chinese Culture. I learned cancer treatment from Master Zao Yi Zen writings.
PBR: When did you decide to compile all of this knowledge into a book?
SH: After treating several friends and friends' pets with great success, I decided to compile this knowledge to introduce to all people.
PBR: Do you feel as if there is any danger, or risk for people following your remedies as you describe them in your book?
SH: Yes. It would involve some danger if the reader has no background in Chinese herbal knowledge. I recommend consulting with an herbal professional.
PBR: Are these herbal cures capable of being used by ordinary people, or must they be under the “supervision” of Masters such as yourself?
SH: Supervision is best. These formulas are good, but using on wrong health status, the patient will not receive benefit and might result in health damage.
PBR: Tell us, please, about your clinic, and other ways in which you help people.
SH: I offer herbal formulas in on-line business. These products are for experienced clients who know their health issues from an Eastern perspective. I have established a nonprofit organization “Immortal Cancer Care Foundation” for cancer disease education.
PBR: Is there anything you wish to add for people seeking a cure for either themselves or perhaps some family member?
SH: I recommend daily health maintenance is important – good diet, mental balance and physical training such as Tai Chi and Chi Kong.
PBR: Well, we certainly wish you the most success with your book, Herbal Surgeon, and your continued health and happiness.
SH: I thank you very much for this interview.
