Review
How To Get Any Job is the perfect book to read if you need a job.  Especially considering that the economy is very weak.  I found this book to be highly insightful and informative. As Donald Asher's book glaringly illustrates, as job seekers, what has been taught to us in the past is woefully incomplete or grossly incorrect. This book lifts the "fog" of secrecy regarding a typical job search and hiring decisions, and confirms what some job seekers had long suspected, but rarely confirmed, regarding the process.  The author also does a good job acknowledging and validating the emotional misery that goes along with finding a new job. While this might seem obvious, for me it was a major breakthrough in self-awareness.

What I particularly liked is that Mr. Asher gives very detailed instructions on what to do, how to do it, and why to do it. For example, here is how to develop a list of companies to call, here is how to make contact and get interviews, and here is the number of interviews you need per week to get "traction" and land a job within 6 months.  All the nagging questions I had about a process I didn't understand--even some issues I didn't know existed--were laid out in a very clear, friendly, and enjoyable format.  In the job market, it is a fascinating read especially for us curious types who wonder what happens behind all those scenes. Need a job, read this book.
