With her super-hero cape, red knee-high boots and a large “M” logo on the front of this adorable blonde little girl’s purple dress, Mitee Mite has emerged into the fanciful world of children’s educational genre. Author David John along with his talented illustrator Tracy Ahumada have created a multi-media enterprise of web-portal videos plus a series of printed booklets. The five printed pamphlet-sized books of The Adventures of Mitee Mite series are titled: The Time Frame Game (one basic and one advanced); The Money Game; The Measuring Game; and The Shape Game. Each book is artfully done in a format of multiple-choice questions followed by the answer, similar to what one might find in a flash card deck. In each picture, readers see Mitee Mite proudly showing off the answer in a “Vanna White” modeling pose with her body language exemplifying the fun of learning and the excitement of getting the answers correct.

Covering the basic standards of coins, geometric shapes, measurements and common calculations dealing with these elements of everyday life, the intent is to provide an enjoyable medium for memorization of these facts in which so much of our daily lives revolve around. How many seconds are in a minute? How many nickels are in a dime? How many sides are in a triangle? These are the types of simple questions everyone reading this takes for granted, but Mitee Mite reminds us at one point in our lives we all needed to memorize these basic details and relationships.

Written by David John as a tool not only for his daughter to use, but also to bring to all youngsters’ attention the information contained in this series of printed books. They are indeed an excellent gift or purchase for a family library, for example, so toddlers can gain the understanding of the associations of money, time and shapes. Quite interestingly and humbling, David John contributes roughly half of all revenue to charitable causes, plus provides one book to be donated for each book purchased. So, in essence, he is not doing this for the money as much as for the joy of teaching and demonstrating the love for his daughter.

Fans of the Mitee Mite series can also buy a Tee-Shirt with the “M” logo boldly printed on the front, to be worn proudly as a part of a Halloween costume or to school so they can show off their mastery of the factoids of such basic truisms. This children’s book series is a seriously exciting way to ensure any child develops these hugely necessary life skills which they will use well into their adults years.  All children will just love these easy to follow educational books! A must for every toddler’s library. Brilliance in simplicity.
