About the Author

Matilda Nicole Rothon was born in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in 2002.  She was born four weeks early, and is the second child of Mark and Nicole Rothon. In 2005, Matilda, aged three, and her family, moved to Billericay, Essex, UK.   It was during her time there, when she was seven, that she was diagnosed with ADHD and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Matilda would play alone for hours with her beads that thread together, and her dolls.  She was always setting tasks for her dolls to do, as they were her ”friends’”.  She would take a doll to school so she had a friend.  Writing stories just came naturally, and her illustrations contained a myriad of detail.

In 2010 Matilda moved back with her family to Geelong, Australia.  Here, her creativity blossomed and her interest in drawing and expressing herself through writing became her focus.
