Romantic and Sexual Satisfaction in Marriage by Rev. Col. Adeniran Gbolagade Jacob, daringly broaches the candidly adult discussion of what goes on (and should go on) behind closed doors in a Christian marriage.

Usually, open discussion of the intimate nature of marriage, is seldom approached, It seems to be a topic that is almost taboo in nature, as most couples tend to shy away from an open dialogue concerning their sex life. However, what many couples don’t realize (and what this book adequately points out) is that it is also an aspect of the marital relationship that bears tremendous importance in the relationship and can be a major contributing factor that can make or break the marriage.

While marriage is a complex affair, whose longevity depends on multiple factors, this brief but fascinating text, provides readers with food for thought with its realistically lucid view of intimacy in marriage. Albeit, this is not an expansive study, but this work does provide sound Christian based advice, presented from multiple perspectives, including the biblical viewpoint, which is of the utmost importance in any Christian marriage because when it comes to sex and marriage, God does indeed have a viewpoint about it.

Presenting readers with not only a Christian centered guide to the “dos and don’ts” within the sexual realm of a marriage, this is also is an examination of God’s design for the lifelong bond of marriage. Which brings to light his instructions throughout the bible for sex and romance between two consenting and loving married adults.

Altogether, I found this read to both enjoyable and enlightening, each of the seven chapters briefly, but, concisely looks at the physical, psychological and spiritual elements of marriage covering the salient points, issues, solutions and instructions as they pertain to the perspectives of both husband and wife. A nice added bonus throughout the book is at the end of each chapter is a place for personal notes.

Overall an informative read, I particularly found Chapter 2, Marital Bonding and Chapter 3 Errors, Facts, and Challenges of Marriage to be especially intriguing as they made clear several fundamental principals that were sensible and simple to follow. What Romantic and Sexual Satisfaction in Marriage offers readers is an informative, sensible and graphic approach to the challenges that can arise in marriage, when it comes to sex and romance, and you do not necessarily have to be Christian to learn from it. Definitely worth the read I do recommend this book to loving, consenting couples married or looking to get married.
