Book Review

Written in the style of part curator, part voyager, and all enthusiastic tourist, Susan Van Allen takes the reader on a tour of Italy not only for women, but for everyone. Reading about the many cooking classes and food descriptions in Rome and around Italy seriously made me hungry. Her descriptions of vistas, gardens, beaches and plazzis made me want to dust off my passport and go see it. The authoritative way she laces history behind the Cathedral’s architecture and other monuments encourages revisiting sights one may have seen in past travels. And what trip would be complete without a visit to the Fonteverda Spa in Tuscany, some shopping in Naples and Florence, and some of Italy’s unique export, Gelato. If traveling with only a backpack, or a matched set of Louis Vuitton, you should fit this book in your luggage and take it to heart ~ for savoring the love of Italy through the eyes, taste buds and mind of Susan Van Allen’s collection of personal experiences.
