Author Interview with Kelly S. Scandizzo

Today we are talking to Kelly S. Scandizzo  author of “Love Through Time”.

PBR:  Is the tragic loss of Jessica’s husband and daughter based on real events?

Yes and no. Jessie’s daughter was based on the loss of my own baby girl many years ago, and the death of her husband was based on the relationship with my daughter’s father. We were very close but the loss of our daughter was too much for us to bare and so we parted ways.

PBR:  How did you choose the time period that Jasper and Jessica return to in order to locate Jon? Did you consider other time periods?

I did consider other time periods but for some reason I kept coming back to the Middle Ages. It’s how I’ve always imagined Scotland and what life would have been like back then. Life has been hard for me and even though women were meant no more than breeders at best in that time period, and had strict limitations, I could actually see myself as Jessie; a female crusader really.

PBR:  As the story continues, what will happen between Jessica and Liam? And what will happen when she is ready to return to her grandmother’s home, will their love be able to transcend time?

I don’t want to give anything away in regards to the relationship that occurs between Jessie and Liam. At this point, she is confused as to her feelings for him, and, try as she might, her heart starts to feel things she wanted never to feel again. Liam will do all in his power to change her mind.

PBR:  Is any of the story inspired by your family history or childhood fantasies?

Actually a little of both. My mother, whose family line comes from Scotland, has always intrigued me considering how proper she was brought up, and the stories she would tell me about how harsh a place it was and that the people were less civilized and friendly than the rest of Europe. Mind, she never visited Scotland so I can only guess her tales were from family members before her.

And of course there were other fictional books I’ve read, and did some light history reading, which fueled my imagination as to how I would perceive what the people would have been like and how they might have lived.

PBR:  Why Scotland? Have you always been intrigued by that country and its culture and language?

A. It will sound silly, but I’ve always been drawn to Scotland. I’ve never been but I can’t help but feel as though I have. Someday I hope I will visit, and maybe possibly live there too. My children keep hounding me to become famous so I can buy a real life castle, my little dreamers. But you never know!
