Synopsis

Manuel returns to Barcelona, Spain, in 2010 after a twenty-five-year absence. In 1984, he married the love of his life, Cristina, and they immediately immigrated to Australia. They enjoyed a very happy and successful life until tragedy took hold of his senses. He felt a desperate need to reconnect with his roots, but his love for Sydney was like a magnet, enticing him to live out his days in his adopted country. As his days unfolded in the land of his birth, unexpected events obscured a clear vision for his future.

About the Author

Hello fellow readers! I thoroughly enjoy travelling within my own imagination and those of others, whether it be in books, films or live on stage. It never ceases to fascinate me how lives and experiences weave endlessly into outcomes that you would possibly never expect at the beginning but in the end you realise that each event has played an important role.

My name is Simonne Celestine and I am fortunate to be able to call the Sunshine Coast in Queensland my permanent home. I have enjoyed writing all my life, or at least since the day I learned to put pen to paper. I have only become more serious about it in the last four or five years. Since that time I have been a member of some writing groups which have proved to be both fun and inspiring, providing me with so much knowledge and perceptiveness.

So far I have entered a few short story competitions, made a start on the story of my life and translated my French uncle’s biography into English. Towards the end of 2015 I took the plunge and engaged a publisher for a memoir of a close friend that she kindly allowed me to elaborate on and hopefully will be out on the market in the second half of 2016. I have also self-published ten children’s stories on Amazon which all have a moral or an important message within them.

I am currently immersed in creating my first novel which is mainly set in Barcelona. I have chosen to attend a writing group in the South of France in September 2016 after first visiting Barcelona and becoming more familiar with the landscape that I am writing about.

I was born in England, with a French mother and English father. My family immigrated to New Zealand when I was fourteen and I embarked on an overseas journey when I was twenty. My first stop was Australia and I have lived here ever since, although I have enjoyed a lot of travelling around the world during this period. I think this is why I enjoy stories that reflect a person’s travels and moving from one part of the world to another to live so much.

Now that I am retired I have a perfect space for devoting time to writing and this is how I look forward to spending my twilight years.
