The Bible has to be one of the most simplistic yet complex text, comprised of a multitude of books anyone can read; it’s only those who grasp a better comprehension of it to interpret for others needing assistance. In Hebrews: It’s Not How You Start, It’s How You Finish, author Dr. Kathy Stewart helps her readers by providing a sense of clarity with a particular book in the Bible, Hebrews. Speaking from an individual who is currently reading the Bible for understanding, this breakdown of the book of Hebrews has been well-written to reduce confusion. You learn more about what this book is about, why it was written, and how your new found understanding can grant you a better reading experience. Many individuals might have read the entire Bible as a personal goal and this book can help to circle back to those memories or allow for a rereading with more depth of understanding.

Jesus becomes the main topic of discussion when studying along with this guide. It is fascinating to know more about how important Jesus is, as many might not have caught on during their own individual reading sessions. The author is encouraging her readers to review the scriptures and answer the questions provided, making sure they understand what they’re reading. It’s very interactive when the provided scriptures are correlating with the example statements because the readers are left to come to their own conclusions. Using this study and follow-along guide improves reading the Bible on a level other than studying, but as a reference when clarifications are necessary.

There’s a chart nearing the end of this guide allowing the reader to take and save notes that can be used to review what they’ve learned overall. Although this study guide’s main focus is on the epistle of Hebrews, there are mentions of other scripture verses to accompany the author’s point. You instantly feel a sense of relief in knowing that you’re being guided in the most thorough way, almost as if you’re being hand held through studying. The author has done a fascinating job of encouraging individuals to read the context and draw up their own interpretations without forcing one’s own belief onwards. This study guide adds a new layer on how to read and understand spirituality, granting the ability to decipher the meanings of scripture beyond the surface level.

I’m beginning to read the Bible as my own personal goal to read it through its entirety within a year and this study guide offers some clarity that I need. We are all messengers delivering the Biblical text to others and this book has the tools needed to equip anyone who reads it with beneficial knowledge. I feel I can walk away with the understanding to teach others, which would enable further spreading God’s Word to those who might not know much about the book. You’ll gain a new outlook on how the Bible was written and discover hidden “gems” of the most important meanings which ever existed. A very well-written guide which points out some important facts others might have skipped over and provided enough information so that it is not reiterated to bore you. I highly recommend this study guide to everyone having a tough time comprehending the parables spoken in Hebrews, as this guide will help you gain biblical understanding.
