Book Review

In general, romance novels usually contain a hero, heroine, a blossoming of love, sexual titillation and some type of intrigue. While, most romance novels do turn out to be usually good reads, there is one book in the romance genre that currently stands out as one of the best that I have had the pleasure of reading in quite a while and that book is Labyrinth of Passions by author Angelica Rose.

Labyrinth of Passions is set in London, England circa 1858. The central female character Isabel De Carballo is a beautiful, independent and intelligent young woman living in a convent who ends up betrothed to a man that she barely knows. Isabel is forced into this marriage by her uncle, who is also her guardian. Isabel’s husband winds up being the cavalier and handsome Viscount Lucas Merewether; Lucas is rich, good-looking and accustomed to getting his way with all women he desires because of his sexual prowess. Lucas is very knowledgeable in the ways to woo a woman sexually. Initially the coupling of Isabel and Lucas is not a match made in heaven but eventually moves in that direction. The duel between the personalities of Isabel and Lucas is very entertaining and adds to the sexual tension that exists between the two of them. From their first meeting, the sexual tension between Isabel and Lucas is thick, and this tension becomes the building block for the burning passionate love and desire that soon engulfs both Isabel and Lucas. This story not only deals with the love that grows within this couple for one another but it also brings to light the answers to some unanswered questions about the past lives of both Isabel and Lucas.

Labyrinth of Passions is not the usual romance story where it ends after some sort of sexual encounter and brief intrigue, this story carries on with twists and turns in the plot that keep the reader riveted until the end. The characters of Isabel and Lucas are down to earth and interesting, making the reader want to stick with the story to see exactly where these characters are headed. The use of descriptive language by author Angelica Rose is excellent. Every sentence paints a dazzling picture that gives the reader a front row seat to the married life of Isabel and Lucas. The setting of the story is greatly enhanced by the use of language and terms from that particular time period. This novel is a captivating read and I thoroughly enjoyed Labyrinth of Passions. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is a fan of romance novels or even a casual reader, as this book does satisfy on many levels.
