Struth the Bloody Truth is a unique look at religion, spirituality, and astrology. Author Iarn Pernell has written a through-provoking book which readers will be immersed with great interest. Pernell writes about the intersection between mind, body and spirit. He brings about how religion has imposed certain limitations on people regarding morals which interfere with their true spiritual awakenings. Pernell also writes extensively about how astrology and people’s zodiac signs can affect their lives. The author expounds on how karma is more than just what happens as a result of what happens in current life. Karma can also be tied to past lives and actions taken then as well. He also has the uncommon belief that karma is unchanging and can’t be helped no matter what actions people take in the future.

Pernell has many controversial views, but they are presented with detailed research from his studies in astrology. Pernell’s writing is very matter-of-fact and easy to understand, with a mixture of hard science and new age opinions. His writing takes on serious topics such as war and personal suffering, but also has aspects of naughty humor and sarcastic stories about his life as an astrologer and how people can misunderstand his work.

Pernell has many surprising views about religion and is irreverent about organized religion. Even the title of the book is a play on slang in Pernell’s native Australia, “God’s truth.’’ Pernell’s views about religion being transient while astrology being a permanent force is provocative and should inspire a lot of analysis from readers.

While many may have skepticism about astrology, Struth the Bloody Truth has well-researched information about astrology. Pernell helpfully has detailed descriptions of each zodiac sign and what aspects of life the signs dominate. This book would be best for students of astrology or fans of astrology. Pernell’s text would also be best for readers who have New Age beliefs or very open- minded beliefs about spirituality. Additionally, this book would be best for critics of religion or readers who want to hear alternative views on organized religion. While it can have contentious material, it makes for a fascinating read that should be debated openly in book clubs. Pernell ultimately wants readers to use the study of the moon, stars, and planets to make the world less materialistic and more loving. Struth the Bloody Truth will help inspire readers to use positive energy to improve their lives.
