I can describe this book simply in one word, “Gorgeous.” The beautiful watercolor illustrations by author and artist Donna Carr Roberts embellishes an adorable story about their dog Scamp, better known as Mr. Fuzzy Ears. As pictures are worth 1,000 words, each page in this book tells a story of emotion, curiosity, friskiness and adventure, through the looks of the eyes of the animals; along with the text articulation of a quintessential children’s storybook tale.

Being an “only-pet” so to speak, Mr. Fuzzy Ears was searching for a furry friend to play with. Upon finding a mouse to play with, its home was too small for him to visit. Then finding Mrs. Chipmunk hiding in the bushes outdoor, Mr. Fuzzy Ears was eager to play with her as she might have been a good friend, but she was too shy and said to Mr. Fuzzy Ears to “go away.” The story progresses with these adorable encounters up until the end when the humans take Mr. Fuzzy Ears to the Humane Society to look for another pet. What happens at the end of the story is a gala acquisition of not one, but three other dogs – making Mr. Fuzzy Ears the happiest he has ever been.

The book ends with the real-life photograph of Scamp along with the other dogs, the author and her husband. Upon finishing this book, readers will realize, as I did, how totally carried away by the combination of images and imaginative storyline this masterpiece of a publication has. With almost a hypnotizing and indeed a powerful effect, these attributes differentiate this book into a “Best in Class” status. I certainly hope to see more adventures of Mr. Fuzzy Ears along with his newly acquired pack of fuzzy friends. But until when that may occur, one thing you can do now is buy The Adventures of Mr. Fuzzy Ears – Searching for a furry friend for all youngsters. It will most assuredly become an heirloom publication, kept and passed down from parents to children and grandchildren, making Mr. Fuzzy Ears a loved addition to all readers’ libraries.
