Title: Fangs and Stilettos

Interviewed by: Brandon Nolta, Pacific Book Review
PBR: What are your plans for developing the overall storyline, i.e. do you intend to wrap up the story in the next book, or do you envision a trilogy or ongoing series?

There will definitely be a Fangs and Stilettos series, and I’m hard at work on the second book! There are so many stories about these characters that I’d like to tell. I’d love to see the series gain enough of a following that I can focus on a new book every year.

PBR: What were your inspirations for the plot and/or characters of Fangs and Stilettos?

A long time ago, my little sister asked me to join her in a game with her Bratz dolls. I was well into my twenties and she was just seven, an appropriate age to play with dolls! I wanted to spice up the game, and so I proposed we do some variation of America’s Next Top Model. Somehow some of the dolls became detectives, and before we knew it they each had paranormal powers. The game became so much fun that I rushed out to get her more dolls. A year later there was a cast of over thirty characters, with intricate storylines and lots of crazy plots. For years my sister kept telling me to write a book about our game. Finally, with Fangs and Stilettos, I did!

PBR: What kind of experiences or ideas, if any, do you hope readers of Fangs and Stilettos get from your books?

This series means a lot to me, but it’s also meant to be light, enjoyable reading. I want my readers to get the same enjoyment I got from creating the storyline with my little sister. I want them to laugh a lot, enjoy the drama, and fall in love with the characters the same way I did.

PBR: Did you draw on specific (non-supernatural, of course) industry or workplace experiences while writing the book?

No, but I watched a whole lot of Project Runway!

PBR: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

Somehow I’ve always known. I love to tell stories.

PBR: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

When I’m not writing, I’m traveling. I can’t stay in the same place for too long, but there are a lot of specific places all over the world that are special to me. It’s nice to visit the same place after a long time and see that although some things change, there’s still a great deal of familiarity. I can’t wait to use the Fangs and Stilettos series to write about my favorite places. Book one took place in Philadelphia and New York City, but book two will take the characters to China, Istanbul, Budapest, Paris, and many other places.

PBR: Are you working on anything now that you can comment on?

The second book in the Fangs and Stilettos series!
