Amber finds herself within an old manor entangled with an incredibly handsome man, who sometimes comes off as being cold and aloof. The more obsessed she becomes the further into a murder mystery she becomes as she makes startling discovers. The previous owner of the manor was believed to have died under mysterious circumstances; meaning her body was found naked, in the woods. Amber’s mind starts to deceive her more than the man she has fallen in love with, something that could cost her soul, or even her very life. Driven by lust, she brings a quest into the past to discover the truth about the manor and the man. But could this journey mean she loses her mind completely? Is it possible for a house to be able to control one’s behaviors? Is it her mind – or man – manipulating her actions?

The Whyte Hinde by author Lizzy Lloyd is both chilling and a little unsettling! Readers will become completely spellbound from the very beginning of this novel. Just as the house seems to control Amber, this book seems to control the reader and will keep you from getting sleep as you dive deeper into the story. The tale opens with Amber satisfied at the fact that she had won the lottery due to a sort of psychic power and began to plan her new life as a millionaire. Readers get a quick background on Amber and the type of character she is before she begins to spiral into the depths of her mind.

The tension of the plot builds to the point where readers can’t contain the keenness on finding out what will happen next. They will think they have figured it out what will happen next, but then Lloyd throws in a twist and every theory goes off course. As the story progresses and Amber begins to feel a little more “crazy,” readers will begin to feel the same. Lloyd masterfully makes the character’s emotions emanate off the pages and effect the reader as they page through this novel. Definitely don’t read this book late into the night! Characters and dialogue are believable as readers fall in love with Amber and love to hate Piers. Readers will find themselves so wrapped up into the story, it becomes easy to place themselves into Amber’s shoes.

Bottom line, this book will chill you to the core almost to the point of frightening; one that readers will most certainly lose sleep over. It is the perfect book for readers who enjoy this category of books, even those who are just beginning to dabble into the thriller genre. Lloyd creates a masterpiece with this novel and readers will find themselves craving much more from her in the future, it’s hard not to. The cover of the book even draws readers into the story as it creates intrigue of what the book will present to us. This is definitely a book that needs to be read, re-read, and recommended to others.
