Lilly, whom friends and relatives have described as paranoid, is the only person who
could have anticipated a hostile takeover of America after she saw a vision from God
which revealed this catastrophe. Follow Me Still: In the Beginning, the first book in
author Wendy Litwinski’s biblically based trilogy, follows her as she complies with a set
of instructions from God that will see her rescue specific individuals from the glaring
danger lurking around them.

The closest pharmacy is a week’s journey away, and Lilly must travel there to obtain her
thyroid medicine. The voyage is perilous, and she is afraid of meeting the extremists
known as “the Fates,” who have taken down the government and shut down the
national power grid. So far, she and her son John have survived them after she obeyed
God’s instruction to establish a farm far from the city. Her friends, Mike and Sarah, and
their kids – friends she has not seen in five years – are the first guests she receives at
her homestead. But based on her visions, a large number of other people will soon be
coming to her property in search of safety, food, and shelter.

Along the road, Lilly runs into Pastor Stephen, who informs her about a looming danger
to a pair of twins who, interestingly, happen to be his grandchildren. These unborn
children pique the curiosity of the “Fates,” and Lilly – who has also been seeing visions
of them – learns from the pastor she has been divinely chosen to track down and
safeguard their mother. The assignment is obviously difficult, though, and she almost
gets taken prisoner by the extremists. She is unaware, however, that back home, she
could have just let someone into her farm who could put her family at grave risk.

This book is based upon the scriptural verse Zephaniah 3:17, which states, “The Lord
your God is in your midst. A Warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with joy; He will
be quiet in His Love.” The author aptly uses this verse as a springboard for her
captivating tale, which I could relate to easily having been brought up in a faith that
insisted on unquestioning obedience to God. The protagonist is a likable character who
demonstrates admirable qualities such as selflessness, kindness, tolerance, and a great
deal of love – even for those who wrong her. The way the supporting characters are
positioned at the core of the narrative livens it up and gives it an opportunity to break
free from some of its most stifling clichés.

From the beginning to the very conclusion, there is tension throughout the story as one
threat leads to another. As the world’s end under the Antichrist approaches, this special
Christian inspiration makes it easier for readers to see the greater global strategy
around chip wear and the potential risks this technological innovation may pose to the
planet. Follow Me Still: In the Beginning is a quick read, packed with information, and it
will be hard for readers to put down.
