Whether it is a personal battle of survival against an illness, or a more global effort from humanity to face and eradicate a global threat, history and mythology alike have all shown the passionate struggle for survival at all costs.
Survival is the heart of author L. Scott Cisney’s Chronicles of the Gods: Book Two.” The story picks up right where the first one ended, with Terra now promised to a local warrior leader on the planet of New Terra. As she struggles with her new role and her conflicting feelings for her new husband and the man she left behind, the human survivors must traverse back to Earth and the Mars colony to find survivors to bring back to their new home world. However, things take an interesting turn as they are transported into an alternate reality and must find help from that reality’s Earth to stave off threats from enemies in heavy pursuit of human survivors.
Compelling and engaging, this story perfectly grabs readers’ attention and delves into the narrative left off when the first book ended. The strength and resolve that Terra displays for her people and her new role was gripping to behold, and the emotional journey both she and Hatcher go on at the beginning of the narrative was a big pull for readers to keep the larger-than-life story more grounded. The powerful world-building and imagery used in the writing made the different worlds and realities the story explores feel so vibrant and alive on the page and almost took on a movie quality in terms of how these worlds came into being.
Readers who enjoy science fiction and fantasy novels, especially those which incorporate elements of romance and survival thrillers with an emphasis on science and mathematics, will absolutely be enthralled with this book. The action and suspense that grows in the narrative is balanced with the depth of emotional character development and world-building which will keep readers on the edge of their seats as each new twist and turn hits the next chapter. The way Terra, as a protagonist, becomes central to a new mythos growing as humanity makes Terra Nova a home and the shocking twist on that mythos when the story ends make this one book readers won’t be able to put down. Chronicles of the Gods: Book Two delivers an epic tale of magic, conflict, and the relentless pull of destiny.
