We all have unique ways of evaluating and handling challenging situations, and for creative people, this frequently entails placing words, shapes, music, or colors on paper. Infinite Times More is a compilation of 112 ballads by Nyrd where shifting emotions, self-searching, and poetic finesse meet. Armed with charming titles, the poems dig into the realities of life and offer up a wide range of experiences as the poet discusses various themes that address the topic of mental health such as sadness, melancholy, PTSD, anxiety, forgiveness, self-esteem, lost love, depression, anxiety, despair, and nostalgic memories.

Across exposition turns, free verse and alternate rhyme schemes dominate employing an amiable yet empathetic ambiance, both physical and spiritual, along the pages. In “Shinigami Eyes” for example, the poet invokes, “You can’t help it for my red eyes only speak shinigami, I got you bending and folding in ways like origami, Dame mas make me drown in your tsunami” employing a rhyme scheme that resonates with the message intended for the reader. Most entries appear to be pensive soliloquies, cathartic experiences, and other times using apostrophes as she addresses someone who is not present at the time of her writing. In others, the author reimagines life in the past and the present as the two periods converge. For example, in “Before” she writes “And my lover grew tired of my shenanigans, so I should stop looking at rings, it was their time, so I should move on too and let myself begin, I must admit this new reality has gotten deeply under my skin, but this new course I walk requires me to be at peace from within.”

Throughout, impressive imagery, resolute candor, and graceful structures provide a captivating relief to the reader. Nyrd provides us with an internal lens to fathom what we didn’t know we needed to describe our inner world. She uses these jewel boxes to serve their purpose by reminding readers who have struggled with mental health that they are not alone. Perhaps one of the master strokes of this virtuosic feat is its cover which reflects the beautiful poetry inside the book with the artistic elements saying much more beyond the title.

Altogether, Infinite Times More by Nyrd offers a sumptuous meander for the soul and many readers are bound to relate to her impassioned entries.
