My Memoirs of The Dark Shadows Conventions is a comprehensive guide by author Anthony Taylor which gives factual accounts of the yearly conventions held by the Dark Shadows Society. The conventions aimed at celebrating the classic hit soap opera ‘Dark Shadows’ that went off the air in the 1970s and featured former cast members as they shared their memories of the show. Each of the conventions was different and educative as well. The short book is a spectacular chronicle of someone present in the conventions hence adding to the authenticity.

It is almost inevitable not to notice the enthusiasm the author writes with, as he reminisces over those conventions. This adds emotion and intrigue to his writing. Author Anthony Taylor gives a glimpse of some of the conventions he attended between August 1993-2016 including when and where the conventions were held. Moreover, he provides intricate details of the sale of merchandise including meet and greet sessions with cast members who gave their points of view on the show.

Buoyed up by great prose and easy-to-understand language, he further mentions some of the actors who were present including: Kathryn Leigh Scott, Roger Davis, and Denis Nickerson – among others. I love how the author gives a proper account of the whereabouts of each actor in the show while also paying special tribute to those that have met their demise over the years.

Beautiful illustrations present in the book match up the information that the book contains which adds to the enjoyment of the short memoir. The author highlights that the conventions were attended by people from all walks of life. I enjoyed reading this book as it had so much insight and many interesting facts.

I loved how the author provided a fresh new perspective on what many may consider an already explored ground. The writing is seamless and the author gets straight to the point avoiding unnecessary details. My Memoirs of The Dark Shadows Conventions by Anthony Taylor is one of those books which leave baby boomers reminiscing over those days one would rush home from school to watch the Dark Shadows show. It is a wonderful trip down memory lane. Hands down, a great read for all dedicated fans of the Dark Shadows classic show that first aired in 1966.
