Books which take readers on an expedition often leave a lasting impact. And when this expedition has to do with the questions tightly associated with life, death, and the intricacies of existence, paging through one such read becomes all the more interesting. The book we are reviewing today, The Age of Ignorance, is a rather versatile read that not only teaches you a few important things, but it also compels you to find your answers yourself.

As suggested by the title, the world is becoming increasingly ignorant, heading towards a direction where the true meanings and purposes of existence are quite blurry. The author, Dr. Michael Ritivoi Hansen, very intricately explores the non-physical realities of the universe that one fails to notice. And the emotions that occupy most of our brains, such as feelings of pride, greed, and materialistic fulfillment, are not as significant as they might seem. The more we choose to get involved in these, the farther we drift away from the invisible reality.

However, it’s not entirely our fault. As the author has put it, “Physicality has the big advantage of being obvious and offering exciting opportunities. Without having anything to compare it with, our condition became acceptable, and physical life became our second nature.” Due to physical things being obvious and in front of your eyes all the time, it becomes hard to pay attention to anything but them. Those important answers to those important questions that often go unattended in the daily grind of life never appear in one go. In fact, they are layered. As a result, getting in touch with what really matters needs a bit of work, deep thinking, self-introspection, and a lot of experience. Everything that happens in life has an important meaning that should be understood.  The author has found some ways to do just that, and he has put them all down in a manner which can be easily understood. The read has a conversational tone and is written in a way one can feel the emotions and formula which have gone into the writing. If you are in the pursuit of meaning and the answers keep evading you, this book would certainly be worth reading.  Additionally, If you’ve ever wondered how society could know so much yet understand so little, Dr. Michael Ritivoi Hansen provides the answer and it’s not an easy one to hear.  This is a book that challenges the mind and demands we rediscover the value of truth.  This book is essential reading for our times.
