Phil Smith is an average 16-year-old boy who tries to be an excellent athlete as well as
avoid being bullied at every corner. But one day, when a stranger shortly enters Phil’s
life and shows him a part of his future, everything he knows changes. Now Phil and his
mom try to figure out who this man was and how he knows Phil’s darkest secret. Then
two detectives show up at his door and escort him downtown for interrogation. Phil’s
reality is nothing as it seems as he continues to struggle to learn more about his future.
But danger seems to be lurking in the shadows wherever he travels through this
unknown world. Phil finds himself relying on his instincts and skills at martial arts to
save himself, figure out why he is going through this, and return to his own time.
From the very first sentence in the prologue, the reader is hooked into this story. Author
Jules Gabriel has the ability to snag his readers with a story they will find difficult to put
down until the very last page. There are many thrilling twists and turns that make this
an unpredictable read. The novel starts out with fantastic character development and
world building and then escalates into a roller coaster ride of excitement and action.
Readers will be on the edge of their seat trying to anticipate what will happen next. It’s a
true joy to open this book.
Jules Gabriel shows he is a master wordsmith with painting vivid images throughout the
book making it so easy to envision what is happening in every aspect of this book. Phil
is a relatable character with actions and dialogue that simply makes sense. The story
has a nice, easy, natural flow to it; nothing feels forced or rushed throughout this book.
Jules Gabriel gave his readers a great book to just sit back and get lost in. This is a tale
which will linger in the back of your mind, and feel the need to tell other people about it.
Someone who wouldn’t normally read something science fiction or futuristic will love the
thriller/suspense aspects. Someone who wouldn’t normally read thriller or suspense will
love the sci-fi/futuristic elements; making this novel truly something all readers will enjoy.
This book deserves a 5 out of 5 rating and to be read not once, or twice but many times
over. After reading this book, readers will be craving more from Jules Gabriel. Readers
looking for a gripping page-turner that also provides food for thought will find this book
hard to put down.
