The emphasis which has been put on mental health over the years has been detailed and important, pushing the need for everyone to confront trauma and the problems facing them in everyday life and finding a means of moving past that trauma. Yet one thing very few people take the time to consider is what happens after that big breakthrough moment. The focus is so pinpointed towards the confrontation that the healing and aftermath is rarely considered in life.

Author Moana Leanne Kirikino’s The Healing Blueprint: Breaking Cycles and Building Wholeness takes the time to do just that: find the path of healing in the wake of confronting trauma. A blend of psychological, spiritual, and introspective work, the book takes readers through a guide exploring everything from setting new boundaries and reclaiming joy to finding their inner child and finding a way of making a new world or beginning of sorts.

A relatively fast-paced read, the book was deeply personal and reflective in nature. The ideas presented by the author in this book are so profoundly moving and really speaks to the personal work people have to do each and every day to survive in this world. The idea the author presents in the beginning of becoming reborn in a sense in the wake of trauma and the grief which comes with the realizations confronting that trauma brought up was so insightful, and the author’s writing style in particular felt heartfelt and honest, as if the reader are given a rare glimpse into the author’s private journals and experiences.

Readers who enjoy non-fiction books, especially those that explore the biography and memoir subgenre and work as a guide and self-help style book will thoroughly enjoy this book. The author uses reflection prompts and journaling invitations to draw the reader in and create an interactive element to the book, giving readers the ability to use the tools and techniques the author touches upon in each chapter. In particular, one journal prompt asks in Chapter 3 what areas in life a person is abandoning themselves in order to earn love from others, and what would life look like if they reversed those roles. This type of interactivity makes the book feel empowering and the emphasis on post-trauma work is a unique and creative path that is sorely needed in the psychology and personal transformation space. Through honest reflection and timeless truths, this book will help you heal the past, restore your heart, and walk boldly into your purpose. If you haven’t yet, be sure to grab your copy today!
