What would make a six-year-old think that one day, something so different, so anticipated, so wonderful and such an achievement would happen, making that particular day the best day ever?  A new puppy? – or maybe some visit with grandma? – or Kindergarten?  Well, none of the above.

Author MK Goldwin has created a book, which frankly even took me by surprise, titled Isabelle’s Best Day Ever!, building up to the “event” which made this little girl so happy!  Reviewer’s note:  I am not going to spoil the thing which is the theme of the story – you’ll have to get the book to find out for yourselves.

But what readers will see is an adorable Isabelle, beautiful with her eyes and personality, having to overcome some of her own fear and anxiety – over a certain action – which has resulted in much stress and even tying her tummy into knots with stress.

Isabelle is a beautiful young girl, and MK Goldwin uses a very original narration along with artistic illustrations telling and showing readers about what is going on in her mind.  Being a six-year-old, sometimes adults forget or cannot imagine what those developing minds can come up with; in a way that is a key underpinning of the storyline of this book.  Still no reveal, sorry.

Isabelle is a normal girl, very smart and capable of using all of the technological toys children play with – iPhones, iPads, etc.  She has a lovely wardrobe and good sense of style.  She loves her parents and grandparents, and is an all-around precious person.  The final page shows the real life Isabelle being held in her mommy’s arms, so I do believe this book is based on a true story.

The book pages quickly with text and images, making this an ideal fun read for youngsters – those growing out of the toddler years in particular.  It will make readers laugh and form a strong bond with their parents who may be reading this book to them ~ all over an incident which I don’t want to spoil.

So what can it be that makes it Isabelle’s best day ever?  Find out for yourselves – and I promise it will be something you wouldn’t expect to be the theme of a book – but I loved it, and you and yours will too!
