Religion can be a dicey subject for many. There are an astounding amount of views on
the topic and for some, if you veer into another territory anything other than what they
believe, chaos can ensue. That is what we get to explore in author R.P. Hanna’s
thought-provoking O Jerusalem.

In this story, we are taken on a wild ride shortly after the 9/11 bombings have occurred.
We get to see the world from the eyes of many characters who are seen as extremists
in their respective religions. Whether it’s Jack in London who is a fanatical atheist, or the
polar opposite in Betsey in Wichita Kansas whose extremist Christianity views lead her
to nothing but misadventure. The truly intriguing part of this story is seeing how other
characters view them from their more rational minds. This is exhibited perfectly when
we are introduced to the Turkish philosopher, Ersan, who is studying Sheikh Abu and
their activities rallying and directing Islamic terrorists in Istanbul. They are able to break
down the idiosyncrasies that have made Sheikh Abu who he is and caused these
extremism decisions and pursue these heinous actions.

This is an extremely well written book exploring the minds of the rational versus the
extremists and is also very imaginative in the way the story plays out. With the
anarchists at the helm causing mayhem and trouble amongst them all and the
mysterious and anonymous billionaire who is funding them all, the one truly in control,
it’s only a matter of time before an apocalyptic event occurs and destroys the world as
we know it.

R.P. Hanna’s viewpoint of religion, and the extremes those within can go to to prove
they are the one’s in the “right” and it is everyone else who is wrong is incredibly
poignant, is suitable not only for the time period this tale took place in but even today.

This is a fresh take on the subject and still has an intriguing plot which will leave the
reader eager to get to the climax so we can see if the world will implode on itself or if the
rational, logical minds will come out on top in the end. The adventure and travel aspects
of the story will surely bring the audience in while the added mystery will keep them
there until they turn the very last page. It’s an ending no one can predict. Make sure you
