Carlton Jordan’s Promise Seeds offers a spiritually stirring story which does well to nourish the soul, pique the spiritual curiosity, affect the faith mindset and warm the divine heart.

This is an eloquently told book which artfully engages with a compelling storyline and an unique central character Phillip, a humble middle aged African- American man, who initially did not hear the voice of God, albeit he attended church and enjoyed his time there he seemed to lack the true spiritual connection and communication.

However, events soon altered his life, allowing him to come to understand the power of his prayers and his connection to God, when one fate-filled day he walked and talked with God, exclaiming his desire to fight demons, negative entities, and the darkness they wrought.  Entirely resolute about his powerful desire to be like Jesus, and serve those that he did not know, he was indeed chosen by God to be one of his spiritual warriors, as well as a messenger of his word, and moreover a powerful agent of intercession on Earth, designated to help others, he graciously accepted this as his calling.

Moreover, Phillip’s empowerment to bring God-filled resolution to chaos came in the form of the gifts of a powerful connection with God, seeing into the spirit realm, healing touch, and authority over spirits, allowing for his prayers, messages and his speaking the word of God as powerful weapons against the demons and darkness inhabiting the recesses (and some people), of the modern world. He travels around Long Island present in the 3D world but battling in the spirit realm, with Phillip’s brief but powerful encounters bringing relief and comfort as needed. Directed by God, Phillip travels to various locations, which at times seemingly had no rhyme or reason, however the necessity for his help would become clear as he would witness the one common factor with each encounter; that darkness was lurking and interfering with God’s children.

Meanwhile, as Phillip allowed the Lord to guide him, he found himself led to a variety of locations and situations, coming to the aid of strangers in instances like; an attack on Christian love with a young couple, being at a supermarket when he already had enough food where he encounters a minister in doubt of his work for the Lord, to a barbershop although he did not need a haircut, but helped a stranger by removing disease trying lodge in his body, as well as a coffee shop where he would have several encounters where his intercession was needed. Overall, those he helped were affected for the better by his prayers and battles within the spirit world, but barely knew him in the world of flesh. His work for the Lord anchored peace, dispelled the dark forces, prevented harm from taking root, and inserted calm.

All in all, Promise Seeds by author Carlton Jordan was a wonderfully engaging and creative Bible-based read that I entirely enjoyed. I would love to see this book made into a movie, or even TV series. Overall, the story itself was well written, spiritually insightful and contained relevant Bible references which helped to fuel the story. I was enraptured by the supernatural premise of the story which yielded a refreshing way to approach engaging with the word of God. Also, while the story as a whole was fantastic, I especially enjoyed the showdown in the church, this powerful scene gave me goosebumps.

Wholly, I look forward to reading other works by author Carlton Jordan and do highly recommend this book to other spiritually inclined readers.
