There is no greater feeling professionally in the world than being able to build something with your own hands. Whether it’s a writing code for a new software or putting together the plans for a gardening company, getting a chance to create something out of nothing is a truly rewarding experience. As David Allan Coe once said, “It is not the beauty of a building you should look at; it’s the construction of the foundation that will stand the test of time.”

In author HF Beaumont’s The Wiloby Estates, the author continues his journey to explore the world of landscape construction while also building strong characters and memorable twists of drama and mystery. After reading a six-page spread in Remodeling Magazine about the Albright’s yard remodel, the Wiloby’s contact Stockdale Landscape Construction, in hopes of making their yard just as grand. A finished project brings a massive Governor’s Ball, along with the opening of three new office locations for the company, and a major disruption for the family’s daily routine, sending them into turmoil.

This is an engaging read from the start. Author HF Beaumont does an excellent job of crafting a narrative that is driven primarily by the amazing dialogue between these well-developed characters. Their interactions and the emotions they stir within one another bring forth a sense of realism and escapism all at once, capturing the entertainment yet heartfelt story the author is conveying here. The author’s own experience is also felt here, delving into the creative and practical sides of landscape construction, and the protagonist feels like a very charismatic character, drawing the reader into the narrative immediately.

This is the perfect read for those who enjoy landscaping or landscape construction, action and adventure novels, and literary fiction that focuses on well-rounded characters and emotional exchanges that bring the novel to life. As a fan of the genres, it was great to see the dramatic twists and turns these character’s lives underwent in the pursuit of this project and the aftermath it brought with it.

A memorable, lengthy yet well-rounded read, author HF Beaumont’s The Wiloby Estates is a unique and one of a kind story. The author’s experience adds credibility and honesty to the protagonist’s own story, while the characters add a feeling of relatability and mystery in a powerful setting, making this a fantastic read.
