Faith is an interesting topic of discussion in the world’s modern times. While the question of faith and its place in society is a constant point of contention, the realities of faith and religion in general become even more fascinating when delving into the different factions that exist within a particular faith as well. This includes one of the more prevalent religions in modern times, Christianity, and in that faith exists a popular form of the faith, Evangelicalism.
Author Werner Trapp delves into the questions both believers and nonbelievers of the Evangelical faith have about the religion in his book The Redemption Story. The book utilizes the written word of the Bible to examine some of the biggest questions people have of the faith, from where Cain’s wife came from if the world was only started from Adam, Eve and the two brothers, to the impact of Noah’s flood and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
This is such a powerful, well-researched and compelling read. The author does a remarkable job of utilizing years of experience and study of the faith to provide clear, precise examples from the Bible to answer the questions presented in this book. The balance of history and religious texts and the quotes the used throughout the book is astonishing, and merges documented study with faith-based exploration perfectly. The sheer volume of questions the author poses to the reader and the use of both Old and New Testament scriptures will keep readers engaged throughout the entirety of this book.
Readers who enjoy nonfiction books, especially those that delve into topics of religion and spirituality, religious studies, and Christian living will find themselves enamored with the author’s book. The honest, up-front and personable way the author writes brings a harmonious tone between the actual studies the author provides and the faith that it inspires in those who believe. The fast pacing of the book and hard-hitting questions it inspires will keep readers thinking and asking their own questions long after the book ends.
